Am I right?

I remember my mom was so excited for me to go through training so I could come home and teach her the proper way to pack a suitcase. I was looking forward to learning the best way to pop open a Coke can without breaking a fingernail.
Well, turns out...flight attendant training is really about the safety and health of the passengers, not packing suitcases and popping Coke cans. Who knew?

"A lot of people walk around in a dehydrated state and don't even know it," our instructor said. A sweet girl in my class raised her hand and asked, "Is Georgia one of those dehydrated states?"
And that's my flight attendant story for the day.

Let's make some decorated peach cookies! You'll need:
- peach shaped sugar cookies
- royal icing tinted peach (using a mix of AmeriColor Soft Pink & Lemon Yellow), chocolate brown, and leaf green
- disposable icing bags
- couplers and tips: #2, #4, & #3
- squeeze bottles, one preferably with a small, removable tip
- toothpicks
- clean paintbrushes (2)
- cotton swab
- AmeriColor Soft Pink & Lemon Yellow food coloring
- meringue powder
- clear sanding sugar

{I made peach by mixing together AmeriColor soft pink & lemon yellow colors. No real ratio here...mix it a bit at a time until you get the shade you desire.}
Thin the remaining peach icing with water, a bit at a time, stirring with a silicone spatula, until it is the consistency of a thick syrup. You'll want to drop a "ribbon" of icing back into the bowl and have it disappear in a count of "one thousand one, one thousand two." Four is too thick, one is too thin. Count of 2-3 is good. Cover with a damp dishcloth and let sit for several minutes.
Stir gently with a silicone spatula to pop and large air bubbles that have formed. Pour into squeeze bottle.

For the leaves, thin the icing as directed for the peach icing, but instead of thinning it all the way, stop when the ribbon of icing is thicker than regular flood icing, and disappears in 12-15 seconds. Cover with a damp dishcloth and let sit for several minutes.

Let the cookies dry uncovered overnight or 6-8 hours.

These are adorable! And now I know why I am a horrible pastry decorator, because it requires patience of which I have zero. :)
ReplyDeleteYou gave me a very good chuckle with this flight attendant story, Bridget! I hesitate to put my safety into the hands of someone who asks that questions. :) These peaches are such fun! I love the darkened highlight that you did on each peach.
ReplyDeleteI'm just in love with that perfect peach color!! Beautiful cookies and photos!
ReplyDeleteWow, these look to good to eat. What a perfect gift!
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful, you have mad cookie decorating skills! Also, I loved your dehydrated state sorry! I love Georgia, it's one of my fave places in America but when my sister studied there for a semester (we're from the UK) she got asked all kinds of crazy questions...my favourites were 'do y'all have pizza in England' and 'England..is that in France' plus my sister was from the University of Reading (pronounced Red-ing) and one girl saw her school jumper and said 'You're from the university of Reading? that's so cute, do they teach you how to read there'!!! Gotta love the South!
ReplyDeleteso cute!! And I like the peach fuzz. Without fuzz, it might as well be a nectarine :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so adorable! I have never made a decorated cookie before and I think this should be my first attempt!
ReplyDeleteI could never ever get tired of your flight attendant stories. I just wish you had been my flight attendant when I was in Atlanta!!
ReplyDeleteThese cookies are especially adorable. LOVE!! They even look fuzzy!!
I love your flight attendant stories and look forward to the next installment! These are the first peach decorated cookies I've seen and they are lovely. The sanding sugar was the perfect finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteSO pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think I read once that georgia is one of those dehydrated states.
ReplyDeleteGeorgia and Kansas, I think.
Anyway, the fuzz wins for sure!
I think they look beautiful either way - but the fuzz definitely ups the awesome factor!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, thanks for the chuckle though! Loving your flight attendant stories, and those peaches really are just peachy. LOVE them! Awesome added detail in color and 'fuzziness'!
ReplyDeleteOh my GARSH! I think I know her! :) That story is hilarious and yes, Georgia is definitely one of those dehydrated states.
ReplyDeleteNow, about those cookies. They are my most favorite EVAH!!! I think they could become my signature cookie. Don't you?
If these don't bring a smile to your face first thing in the morning I just don't know what would!! Absolutely adorable. And the fuzz factor sealed the deal :) ~Megan
ReplyDeleteDo you ever wonder what happened to that sweet girl?
ReplyDeleteThose cookies are too pretty to eat! And I miss Texas peaches - especially in Blue Bell ice cream. We have peaches in Northern California but they aren't really the same. I miss being a little girl sitting on top of my grandfather's John Deere eating a peach that dripped down my chin and bathing suit. And then jumping down and just hosing it all off. Ahhhh, to be a kid again!
I just love these Bridget. I really want to try my hand at cookie decorating and may try with these! The fuzz is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteOMG that story is hilarious!!!........and what did the instructor reply? lol
ReplyDeleteThese cookies are SOOOOO adorable! now I'm craving peaches!
OMG dehydrated state, that would so be my friend, cracks me up. And the cookies are just peachy. Yeah I said it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, B!
ReplyDeleteThose peaches are so pretty. They look delicious and now I want to eat a peach. I never knew that trick of MP and water to add sanding sugar after the icing is dry. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteI love your flight attendant story. I am retired from Southwest Airlines (27 years) and my daughter is a flight attendant for Virgin America. I make cookies for her crew all the time and just made their new uniforms into cookies to celebrate their 5 year anniversary. Her crew loved them.
Kris from So Cute Cookies
Bridget, these are beyond gorgeous! I couldn't wait to see them after the IG posts. I love the fuzz!
ReplyDeletePeaches are the best. They're one of my favorite fruits!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Bridget! You're creations are always such a work of art :)
ReplyDeleteI love these cookies, Bridget! So pretty. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm giggling so hard over your flight attendant story. :-P
Brilliant! So summery and happy!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteSo super cute! Nice photos, too.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... I would have died when that girl asked that question!!! These cookies are beyond adorable. You are amazing!!
ReplyDeleteThat is hysterical (and I'm glad I wasn't in your class because that way I know it wasn't me who asked that question... totally could see that coming out of my mouth).
ReplyDeleteI want these cookies - can I just hire you to make them for me? They are fantabulous!
Those are really pretty. Love that icing color! Funny story!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh and the eye candy!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing are these?! Just too cute :)
ReplyDeleteI love that story! Too cute! And the peach cookies are adorable!!
ReplyDeleteKK
This looks super yummy, I just made a peach pie on my blog, you should check it out!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Where I can found the peach cookie cutter?
ReplyDeleteGeorgia is the Peach State so of course we love peaches in Atlanta! Thanks for sharing this! They are perfectly peachy!
ReplyDeleteThose peach cookies are too adorable - and perfect with the sanding sugar!
ReplyDeleteI love peaches!I am assuming these cookies count as a fruit serving right?
ReplyDeleteThose are so beautiful and graceful! I would be afraid to eat them! But of course, that would only last maybe 10 minutes. Then I'd scarf it down :)
ReplyDeleteAs you can probably tell by my "name," I'm a Georgia girl and ATL native. These cookies are perfect and I cannot wait to make them! Thanks for the peachy inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI want one of these in my mouth right now! Thank you for the step by step instructions.
ReplyDeleteI love the peach fuzz so I definitely agree with that. They're so cute. I love peaches but only if they're fresh. Canned or yoghurts, etc. with peaches in is a big no no. Yes, I'm weird. And yes, I realise these aren't actually peaches. Hehe!
ReplyDelete-Lisa.
Sweet 2 Eat Baking
These are SO PRETTY and delicious looking!!!! (And I'm so glad you told us your story!)
ReplyDeleteThese cookies are adorable and I love the fuzz! I laughed out loud at your flight attendant story. Unfortunately I had a bad experience with an airline that kept us on a plane forced to land due to an engine problem for 3 1/2 hours; they wouldn't let us get off for food or water...I almost passed out from dehydration until they realized that had to give me something or medics would have to come on the plane...all so they wouldn't have to file a report. Craziness!
ReplyDeleteThe fuzz is my favorite! Darling as always.
ReplyDeleteThese cookie look amazing! The colour is just so beautiful, looks like perfect fresh peaches. Yummie, I would like to have on right now!
ReplyDeleteHi Bridget!!! I'm from Brazil! I LOVE your blog and I love everything you do!! Sorry for my bad english... I have a question for you! I can not easily find Meringue Powder in Brazil, so i'm thinking of using egg white powder. To stick to the cookie sanding sugar, can I use egg white powder with water instead os using meringue powder and water?? Do you no how can I do that? Thank you very much!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow much would I LOVE to fly with YOU as a flight attendant on Delta!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing like the sound of the way the flight attendants pop open those cans.
Seriously!
These PEACHY cookies are perfection!
LOVE the fuzz!
Scrumptious and lovelier than lovely!
I'll have to say~in Alabama it's all about CHILTON County peaches!
When we're in the country on the farm we slice up a bowl of peaches~sprinkle them with sugar~and pour very cold milk in the bowl. My mom likes to eat hers with Powdered Sugar Toast~which is a slice of toasted buttered bread sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Love these sweet girl!
You're the PEACHyest girl I know!
xo
Like I said on Instagram- I just love these to death. Great job!
ReplyDeletewhere do you get the bottles from? Thank you thank you thank you for your wonderful tutorials!!! I actually think I might be able to make some pretty cookies now!=0)

DeleteThese are gorgeous!!! If only I had the patience you have to make such beautiful cookies!
ReplyDeleteThese might just be my favorite cookie you've ever made...the sanding sugar on the peach cheeks catapulted them right to the top of my list!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Thanks for the tutorial and the flight attendant story with it! Pinning it!
ReplyDeleteAs always... Lovely! And, I do love the flight attendant training story. By the way... The cover of your book, just like your baking, is PERFECTION! xo
ReplyDeleteI looove peaches. Even more so because the three peach tress in my back yard aren't quite making it and I dream of tons of peaches. This post just took it to a whole new level. Peaches and cookies? Yum. :)
